Spring is here and with that  Waste Management will be once again holding the free bulky item drop off at the Lockwood Landfill. This is a way for Waste Management to help our community reduce illegal dumping by inviting the public to Lockwood Landfill’s annual Free Dump Weekends taking place on nine specific days throughout the month of April. Materials commonly associated with illegal dumping will be accepted at no charge.

“Our goal is to keep thousands of yards of waste from being dumped illegally in our open space,” says Lockwood Landfill District Manager, Chris Anderson.  “Waste Management is committed to helping the communities we serve with their environmental service needs.”

Acceptable Household Appliances:

  • Refrigerators (additional charge for freon recovery)
  • Hot Water Heaters
  • Stoves/Dishwashers
  • Washers/Dryers

Acceptable Bulky Waste:

  • Sofas
  • Chairs
  • Mattresses
  • Box Springs
  • Tires

Lockwood Landfill Annual Spring Free Dump Event:

In addition to the quarterly Residential Dump Days, Waste Management is offering its annual free dump weekends at the Lockwood Landfill throughout April. Three weekends have been chosen for the “Lockwood Annual Spring Free Dump Event” to give residents several options, including three Saturdays, which will help reduce wait times. The dates at Lockwood Landfill are:

  • Event 1: April 6, 7 and 8
  • Event 2: April 13, 14 and 15
  • Event 3: April 20, 21 and 22

Lockwood Landfill Location and Hours of Operation

Monday – Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (only for the Lockwood Annual Spring Free Dump Event)
Sunday: Closed Please Note:

  1. Lockwood Landfill is closed on Saturdays and Sundays outside of these selected dates;
  2. Both events are for residents only – commercial customers will be charged the normal rates;
  3. Electronic Waste/Recycling will NOT be accepted at this event;
  4. Hazardous waste will not be accepted at any time;
  5. Tires are limited to four per residential household.

Household Hazardous Waste Recycling: Free household hazardous waste collection events are held the 3rd Saturday of every other month. Call the HHW Appointment line at (805) 583-6321. Maximum limit per appointment/vehicle is 15 gallons or 125 pounds
