Adopt a roadway, park, river or open space spot
The Adopt-A-Spot program is an opportunity for businesses and community groups to invest in the health and beauty of our community and increase the quality of life for residents and visitors. Your business or group can adopt a spot along a roadway, in a park, along the Truckee River or in an open space area.
How it works
When you adopt a spot, a sign with your name will be installed at your spot. We ask that you conduct at least three cleanups a year to keep your spot clean. You choose the dates! KTMB will provide you with all the tools needed (bags, gloves, shovels, etc.) and coordinate trash pickup. See the maps below for available spots to choose from. If there is a spot you’d like to adopt that is not on the map, please let us know and we’ll work with you to try to make it happen!
To adopt a spot it is $1,000 for a 2-year commitment.
Why do we charge a fee to adopt a spot?
As a non-profit, KTMB needs to cover its costs for administration, tool supply and more for this program. It currently costs KTMB $1,100 a year per spot to run the program. KTMB works hard to obtain grants, sponsorships and individual donations so that we are able to cover some of the cost of each spot.
We will work with you.
KTMB occasionally has the ability to provide spots at discounted rates for individuals, community groups, non-profits and small businesses (50 employees or fewer). Please contact KTMB staff for special pricing and availability of spots at email@example.com or (775) 851-5185.
A limited number of scholarships are available for small community groups (boy scout troops, school groups, families/individuals) for the roadway, park and open spaces spots.
As an Adopt-A-Spot Sponsor, you’ll get a road sign with your name on it installed in your spot, and KTMB will coordinate the cleanup and maintenance of your spot. If you prefer to clean your spot, KTMB will provide you with all the support listed above.
Sponsorship Cost: Sponsorships start at $5,000 to sponsor a roadway, park, open space or river spot.
