KTMB’s Truckee River Cleanup Day

Keeping our River BeautifulDSC_0056

For 10 years, KTMB has organized the Truckee River Cleanup Day where 700+ people (made up of families, individuals, businesses, youth groups and beyond) come together to keep our Truckee River clean and pristine for all to enjoy. The event spans over twenty miles along the river, with cleanup sites from Verid to Lockwood. The Truckee River Cleanup Day is a community-supported event, with many people, businesses and agencies involved who help to make it successful. KTMB is supported by The Truckee River Fund, REI, and partners with the cities of Reno and Sparks parks and recreation departments, and Washoe County Regional Parks and Open Space and many other local groups and organizations to put on the Truckee River Cleanup Day.

Get Involved & Have Fun!

KTMB’s Truckee River Cleanup Day is the last Saturday every September. Check the KTMB Calendar for this year’s event date! IF_ReedThe cleanup includes projects such as storm-drain stenciling, litter pickup, graffiti removal, in-the-river trash removal (by kayakers and flyfishers), weed pulling and park projects. KTMB hosts a Volunteer Appreciation Picnic after the cleanup to thank volunteers for their efforts with barbecue, beer (21 and older, of course) and prizes. The picnic is possible thanks to Save Mart Supermarkets and Great Basin Brewery.
