Programs > Phone Book Recycling

The Phone Book Recycling program runs each year as part of the “Phone Books for Trees” campaign.  For every one ton of phone books recycled at City of Reno, City of Sparks and Washoe County drop off locations, AT&T, through the Arbor Day Foundation will donate an average of 17 trees to area parks.  In 2009, the City of Reno collected 4.27 tons of phone books, the City of Sparks 3.26 tons of phone books and Washoe County 9.18 tons of phone books. On October 23rd, 2010 during Make A Difference Day, 200 volunteers helped to plant 87 trees in area parks.  Over 100 trees were donated by AT&T through the program.
