The Phone Book Recycling program runs each year as part of the “Phone Books for Trees” campaign. For every ton of phone books recycled at City of Reno, City of Sparks, and Washoe County drop-off locations, YP Real Yellow Pages donates an average of 17 trees to area parks. In 2009, the City of Reno collected 4.27 tons of phone books, the City of Sparks collected 3.26 tons, and Washoe County collected 9.18 tons. During 2010′s Make A Difference Day, 200 volunteers helped to plant 87 donated trees in area parks.
