Upcoming Events

Great Community Cleanup

KTMB’s Great Community Cleanup is coming up on Saturday, May 5th. At this annual event over 700 volunteers come together to clean over 135,000 pounds of litter and noxious weeds out of our open spaces. To learn more about this event you can visit our website – volunteer signups will open in early April.

Earth Day

Earth Day will be Sunday, April 22, 2018. Join us in Idlewild Park to check out the KTMB table and take a tour of our Sensory Garden!

May is One Truckee River Month & River Stories Competition

One Truckee River is hosting its second annual River Stories contest. Anyone with a memory that connects them to a place along the Truckee River — from Lake Tahoe to Pyramid Lake — is encouraged to submit a small story or poem (under 300 words). There are both youth and adult categories. Submissions are accepted from February 12th through April 2nd. Attached is a flyer with dates and submission details. To submit your story, see contest rules, or read last year’s winning submissions, click here.

In addition to River Stories, One Truckee River is celebrating the month of May as “One Truckee River Month.” To help raise awareness of the importance of the river in our community, One Truckee River is developing a promotional calendar of events on or about the river throughout May. If you would like for your event to be included in our promotional calendar, you can sign up here. Don’t have one? Organize or sponsor something! Email Elise (otroutreach@ktmb.org) or Patricia (otreducator@ktmb.org) or call 775-851-5185 for more information.

We’d especially like to thank our Project Leaders: Mike Ryan, Ralph Jaeck, Gary Meckler, Chris Anderson, Jeff Haliczer, Cathy Schmidt, Joyce Patterson, Jeff Weagel, Doug Cardwell, John McHenry, Kathy McHenry, Kyle Outland, Lawrence Grube and Kelly Goodman.

Beautiful Business

Great Basin Brewing & Conscious Containers

We wanted to give a big thank you to Great Basin Brewing Company and Conscious Container for including KTMB as the non-profit partner on the first Beers 4 Bottles event back in January. We had a wonderful time at the event and we are very excited about the pilot program to collect and reuse craft beer bottles in our area. Be sure to check out the next Beers 4 Bottles event where you can recycle your old craft beer bottles!
