Take the 30 Minute Cleanup Challenge!
To celebrate Earth Month this April, and KTMB’s 30th anniversary, we are introducing the idea of 30 Minute “trash mobs.” At Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful we believe Every Day is Earth Day and we have been touting that message for 30 Years! We are encouraging everyone to take our 30 Minute Clean Up Challenge during April to clean up our community. Get your neighbors, co-workers, friends, and family together for a little community spirit with a quick 30 Minute clean up. Post a pic of your clean up using #TrashTagReno and #KTMB30, and we could share your clean up on our social media to help encourage others. Together we can have an enormous impact, get involved today!
Sustainability Series at The Basement
The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection is starting a new Sustainability Series. KTMB is honored to be kicking off the new, interactive educational series on Saturday, April 20 from11am-1pm at The Basement. Join us for an afternoon of learning about waste reduction, followed by a workshop to turn old tee shirts into cool tote bags! Grab an old tee shirt and join us!
Down to Earth Composting
Americans throw away a tremendous amount of food every day. 5,526 pounds is the amount of food waste local business, Down to Earth Composting, kept from our local community landfill in March. On April 27th, Down to Earth Composting will be partnering with KTMB to keep food waste produced at our Great Community Cleanup Volunteer Appreciation Picnic from the landfill as well! We are incredibly thankful for this vital initiative that is allowing KTMB to get closer to our Zero Waste goals! Thanks for everything you are doing for us and our community, Down to Earth Composting!
Cheryl Pregal and Cary Stien
Cheryl Pregal and Cary Stien from Sepulveda Elementary School have been long-time supporters of KTMB’s youth education program. Since our first educators visited their classroom back in 2015, Cheryl and Cary have continued to request presentations from our passionate educators that have allowed us to reach over 190 students! They were also the first class to not only complete all three of our units (Waste, Weed, and Watershed Warriors), but also organized a field trip to the Sensory Garden. They both attend the last KTMB Teacher Training to further educate themselves on ways they can cultivate future environmental stewards of our community. Both of Cheryl and Cary’s passion for the environment was taken to the next level when they decided to hold a school-wide fundraiser for KTMB’s education program! Thank you so much, Cheryl and Cary (and the rest of the fantastic educators at Sepulveda Elementary School), for your continued support and your dedication to keeping our community clean and beautiful! How to KTMB Every Day
