The Adopt-A-Spot program is an opportunity for businesses and community groups to invest in the health and beauty of our community and increase the quality of life for residents and visitors. Your business or group can adopt a spot along a roadway, in a park, along the Truckee River or in an open space area.
How it Works
When you adopt a spot, a sign with your name will be installed at your spot. We ask that you conduct at least three cleanups a year to keep your spot clean. You choose the dates!
KTMB will provide you with all the tools needed (bags, gloves, shovels, etc.) and coordinate trash pickup. If there is a spot you’d like to adopt, just let us know and we’ll gladly work with you to make it happen!
How is Adopt-A-Spot Free?
As a non-profit, KTMB needs to cover its costs for administration of the program, tool supply, garbage bags, dumpsters and more for this program. KTMB works hard to obtain grants, sponsorships and individual donations so that we are able to cover some of the cost of each spot. KTMB’s Adopt-A-Spot Program is funded by Washoe County Health District.
KTMB’s Adopt-A-Spot program is in partnership with the City of Reno, City of Sparks, Washoe County, US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Truckee Meadows Water Authority, Washoe County Health District and Waste Management.
