Christmas Tree Recycling
Since 2003, more than 149,000 trees have been recycled through KTMB’s Christmas Tree Recycling program thanks to the help of thousands of volunteers and our many partners. KTMB’s Christmas Tree Recycling Program provides community residents with an easy alternative to dumping trees in the landfill or- as is sometimes seen- in the open spaces. Trees are chipped into mulch that is used for park and weed abatement projects and is available for free to area residents at the Bartley Ranch and Rancho San Rafael drop-off sites. We partner with Washoe County Parks and Open Spaces, City of Reno, City of Sparks, and Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District on this program to ensure that trees are kept out of our open spaces, reducing the risk of fire in the summer months.
KTMB’s Christmas Tree Recycling is made possible by the NV Energy Foundation, Washoe County Health District, Washoe County, City of Reno: Urban Forestry, City of Sparks, Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District, Nature’s Bakery and Tholl Fence.
