APPLIANCES

Unusable appliances for recycling:
Western Metals Recycling: (for other appliances not listed, see “scrap metal”, or call)
(775) 358-8880 will pay for scrap metal, call for up to date pricing.
They accept: stoves, refrigerators (must remove freon prior to drop-off, call appliance repair companies for freon removal), washers/dryers, dishwashers, air conditioners, microwaves, etc.

Waste Management:
Lockwood Landfill (775)342-0401 / Sage St. Transfer Station (775)326-2402 / Stead St. Transfer Station (775)972-9160 : check with attendant at pay station for proper drop-off location within landfill, do not dump into general trash pit.
Accepts household appliances for free from Waste Management customers, they remove freon and other chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) on-site, and send to local business for recycling.

Schnitzer Steel:
(775) 331-2267, will pay for scrap metal, call for up to date pricing. Will take most appliances, but no microwaves. Will take refrigerators / air conditioners and refrigerator compressors / air conditioner compressors, but the compressor has to be removed from the refrigerator / air conditioner and drained of freon (call appliance repair companies for freon removal) prior to drop-off.

NV Recycling:
(775) 888-9888, located in Carson City.  Free drop-off.
Acceptable: Washers / Dryers, Heaters, Microwaves, Dishwashers. NO Refrigerators.

Reno Sparks Gospel Mission:
(775) 323-7999, accepts donations. Drop off at warehouse (2115 Timber Way, Reno) or call to arrange pick-up of large items. Accept all types of appliances, appliances do not have to be working, they have a workshop on site.

Usable appliances:
Habitat for Humanity Restore:
(775) 323-5511, accepts donations. Drop off at Kuenzli St. location or call for pick-up of large items. No dishwashers.

ASBESTOS

Lockwood Landfill:
(775)342-0401 Will take asbestos if it can be contained and transported properly, MUST call ahead.
Properly contained means wetted and double bagged in special asbestos bags, call for more information (for asbestos bags contact Inline Distributors).

H2O Environmental:
(775)351-2237 Will take it if it is contained properly (wetted and double bagged in special asbestos bags), they do not deal with it on site, they transport it to Lockwood Landfill (for asbestos bags contact Inline Distributors).

Grassroots Books:
