The Truckee River is a precious resource in our community, providing us with 85% of our drinking water. Join Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful to learn about our Truckee River Watershed history and what we can do to help keep it healthy and beautiful for years to come. This educational riverwalk will start at the McKinley Arts Center following the Riverside Farmers Market. We will begin with an interactive storytelling activity about the Truckee River watershed and then be joined by One Truckee River, who will lead us in a demonstration of some of the McKinley Arts and Culture Centers “River-Friendly” technologies, like rain gardens and permeable paving, that are created to help conserve our precious water resources. Next, we will continue our walk along the Truckee River, heading west to the Booth Street bridge, where we will learn more about native and non-native vegetation, non-point source pollution, pollinators, and other River-Friendly Landscaping tips and then loop back to the McKinley Art Center. The walking distance will be approximately 0.5 miles. After the RiverWalk, we encourage you to head over to Pitch Black Printing (located at 700 E. 4th Street #A in Reno) for an Immersive Experience of River, Art, and Community!
